UK Daily Mail on NY Writer Bedridden From Mold Poisoning
March 13, 2017
The UK Daily Mail published a story about a writer from New York who had been bedridden for several years and sick for almost her whole life as a result of mold in her family’s basement.
Dana Anhalt, 37, was diagnosed with toxic mold illness in 2016, after the family noticed a musty smell in the basement. She is hoping to raise enough money to follow her doctors’ advice to move to a different residence and purchase new belongings.
The article quoted her as stating:
I was plagued with constant sinus infections, repeated bouts of strep, migraines, hormonal trouble and mounting gastrointestinal symptoms.
By 2011, I was almost entirely bed bound, and by 2012 I was ravaged by muscle and joint pain so severe that I often vomited from the intensity.
I was trapped in a body that could not articulate what I was going through or seek comfort in connection with others.
The mold in the house originated in a flood that occurred when she was a child.
