Mold Avoiders Poll: Remediation Success Rates
This poll was conducted in the Mold Avoiders Facebook group in April 2017.
The question was:
Did you attempt to remediate the building where you first got sick with chronic illness (or where your existing chronic illness became significantly worse)? If so, what was the outcome? Please choose just one response.
Following is the breakdown for the 35 people who said that they had tried to remediate a building where they first got sick or where their illness became considerably worse.
26% – I tried to remediate this sort of building and then was able to live there successfully. (9 respondents)
23% – I tried to remediate this sort of building and then the building felt worse to me. (8 respondents)
20% – I tried to remediate this sort of building and it was more tolerable then, but not enough for me to live there. (7 respondents)
14% – I remediated this sort of building but am not sure how successful it was because I did not dispose of cross-contaminated possessions. (5 respondents)
6% – I am currently involved in a remediation and don’t know the results yet. (2 respondents)
6% – I tried to remediate this sort of building and it didn’t seem to make much difference in terms of my tolerating it. (2 respondents)
3% – I tried remediating this sort of building but am not sure how successful it was because my main problem was outdoor toxins. (1 respondents)
3% – I remediated this sort of building and am now living in it, but I am still quite sick and am not sure if the building is responsible. (1 respondent)
