Mold Avoiders Poll Results: Weight Changes After Starting Mold Avoidance

 

 

This poll was conducted in the Mold Avoiders Facebook group in May 2017.

The question and the most frequent responses follow:

What was your weight status prior to pursuing mold avoidance, and how has it changed since then? Please choose the one response that best fits your circumstance. For the definitions of “overweight,” “underweight” and “normal weight,” please use your own standards of what you would like to weigh, rather than what doctors, society in general or others think you should weigh.

 

18% – I was normal weight before starting avoidance and since then have gained weight, so that I am now more overweight (16 respondents)

17% – I was overweight before starting avoidance and since then have lost a good amount of weight, so that I am now more in the normal range (15 respondents)

16% – I was overweight before starting avoidance and since have lost some weight, but am still overweight (14 respondents)

14% – I was underweight before starting avoidance and since then have gained weight, so that I am now in the normal range (12 respondents)

8% – I was overweight before starting avoidance and since then have gained more weight (7 respondents)

6% – I was normal weight before starting avoidance and since then have stayed about the same (5 respondents)

5% – I was underweight before starting avoidance and since then have stayed about the same (4 respondents)

3%  – I was normal weight before starting avoidance and now have lost so much weight that I am underweight (3 respondents)

3% – I was underweight before starting avoidance and since then have gained too much weight, so that I am now overweight (3 respondents)

3% – I was overweight before starting avoidance and since then have stayed about the same (3 respondents)

2% – I was underweight before starting avoidance and since then have lost weight (2 respondents)

2% – I was normal weight since starting avoidance and since then have lost weight, but am still in the normal range (2 respondents)

1% – I was overweight before starting avoidance and since then have lost too much weight, so that I am now underweight (1 respondent)

 

Overall Trends: 

47% – Weight has become more normal (41 respondents)

16% – Weight has remained about the same (14 respondents)

37% – Weight has become less normal (32 respondents)

 

Overall Gain/Loss:

44% – Gained weight (38 respondents)

43% – Lost weight (37 respondents)

14% – Stayed the same (12 respondents)

 

33% – Lost unwanted weight so that weight became more normal (29 respondents)

30% – Gained unwanted weight so that became more overweight (26 respondents)

14% – Gained wanted weight so that weight became more normal (12 respondents)

7% – Lost wanted weight so that became more underweight (6  respondents)
